Unity of South Africa’s Welcome To Royal Family
LONDON. March 15. Emphasising the unity of South Africa’s welcome to the Royal Family, the correspondent of the Daily Telegraph, in a dispatch from Ladysmith, says that no shadow of politics or racial discord has interfered with the brilliant success of the tour. Not one word or adverse comment- has appeared in any newspaper, not even in the most outspoken Nationalist journals. , . “It is clear to all South Africans that the tour has no political purpose and will have no influence on domestic politics except from a general long-term viewpoint," adds the correspondent. “The King s presence among them has brought home to ail South Africans, whatever their political creed, the reality of the monarchy and the value in existing international conditions of a united Commonwealth headed by a constitutional monarch."
