CLAY BIRD SHOOTING Formation of West Coast Gun Club
The first step towards the revival of clay bird shooting on the West Coast was taken on Wednesday evening when the West Coast Gun Club was formed. There has been a lapse in this form of sporting activity for some years and a number of interested persons left the West Coast, but an influx of shooters from the Canterbury district will increase interest in competitions in this district. Those present at the meeting were: Messrs G. Hahn. J. Howatt, G. Goodall, F. Bell, J. Shaw, F. Silcock, J. Reid, F. Hahn, G. Hahn Junr, and T. Heiniger.
Mr. G. Halm was elected president, Mr. T. Heiniger, secretary. The referees appointed were the president and Mr. Shaw and the handicappers the president and Mr. Howatt. The following programme for the first shoot was arranged: Two fivebird eye-opener sweepstakes; a 10bird handicap shoot for a gold medal and sweepstake (sweepstake optional) and a five-bird quail drive.
