BRITAIN AND POLAND

“PROCESS OF CONVERSION” TO CONTINUE

(Rec. 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 19. Mr. Bevin, answering a question in Ihe House of Commons, said he thought no useful purpose would be served by withdrawing recognition of the Polish Provisional Government, because of its actions at the Polish elections. Britain intended “to carry on the process of conversion.” A message from Paris stated that the' polish Foreign Minister, Mr. Modezlwezski, announced at a press conference that Poland would introduce a law under which those guilty of inciting racial hatred might be shot. The Government hoped the new drive would wipe out anti-Sem-itism and inspire Polish Jews to return to their homeland.
