MEAT FOR BRITAIN
DENIAL OF MR. STRACHEY’S CHARGE (Rec. 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. A denial that the waterfront holdups in Australia and New Zealand had delayed meat for Britain was made by Mr E. Roach, assistant general secretary of the Waterside Workers’ Federation. Mr Roach commented that the recent overtime ban in Australia had restricted work for five consecutive days only. It was significant that since the dispute, on two successive days work could not be found for all the Sydney men.
