Costly Voting.
Comment on the high cost of voting was made by several members of. the Auckland Transport Board when figures relating to the recent by-election in the No. 3 constituency were referred to the meeting. From the 32,000 electors only 2465 votes were received, which represented 7.7 per cent, of the number eligible to vote. The cost of the election was £277, or 2/3 for each vote cast.
