The following weather forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon to-day:— Situation: Anti-cyclones are over North Auckland and near the Chat-

hams; a deep depression is southwest of New Zealand. Forecast to 5 p.m. to-morrow: Variable winds, westerly freshening temporarily to-morrow; occasional rain in South Westland, and rain becoming more general to-morrow; temperatures moderate. Further outlook: Showery westerly weather. LOCAL RECORDINGS 9 a.m.: Barometer, 30.00 nc^ s (1016 millibars); thermometer, 54; wind, north-east (gentle breeze); sky, overcast; bar, moderate swell; ramfall, nil (The total rainfall to date this year is 8.05 inches). The depth on the bar at high water yesterday was 23ft.
