Weddings

Bell—Tate. A gown of white sheer georgette was chosen by Ngyra Jane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. =T. A. W. Tate, Greymouth, for her marriage at Holy Trinity Church last Saturday to Francis Andrew, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Bell, Dobson. The bride’s frock was made with a tight-fitting bodice, pin-tucked and with lace insertions. The neck was square and the skirt was circular [with a long train. She wore a flowing embroidered tulle veil which fell from a coronet of flowers, and carried a bouquet of white gladioli, sweet peas, and maiden-hair fern. The bridesmaids, the Misses Cecelia and Joan Bell, sisters of the bridegroom, wore pink and green organdie frocks respectively and carried bouquets to match. The flower-girls, Myrna Low and Nova Cutbush, wore lemon organdie and carried small bouquets. Mr. A. Gutberlet was best man and Mr. F. Burrows groomsman.

The reception was held at Harkers, where Mrs. Tate and Mrs. Bell received the guests. When Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Bell left by rail-car for the North Island the bride wore a powder-blue costume with black accessories. Malone- Fisher

On Tuesday February 4 at St. Patrick’s Church, , Greymouth the marriage took place of June Audrey second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Fisher, Leonard street, Greymouth, to Joseph, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Malone Scotland. The bride wore a gown of white organdie and chantilly lace . made in long-waisted style. The bodice of lace was outlined with, tiny frills to match those on the hemline of the circular organdie skirt. Lace applique finished the train and the long bishop sleeves. The veil of embroidered tulle was held in place with a coronet of white velvet gardenias. She carried a shower bouquet of madonna lilies and maidenhair fern.

Attending the bride were her sister Doreen and her two cousins, Miss Colleen Moore and Miss Zelda Culling whose frocks were of sprigged organdie in pastel shades of pink blue and green, made with heart-shaped necklines and close fitting bodices on to which full trained skirts were gathered. They carried bouquets of sweet peas, and wore chaplets of pastel shade flowers in their hair.

The bridegroom was attended by Mr. P. Costello as best man and Messrs W. Newton and P. Hassan as groomsmen. During the service Mrs. D. Hogg sang The Lord’s Prayer, accompanied by Mrs. Buchanan. At the reception at Harker’s the bride’s mother, assisted by Mrs. W. Whitfield, a friend of the bridegroom, received a sarge number of guests. The bride’s mother wore a black two-piece model suit embroidered in self colours. Her hat was of fur felt finished with a pleated, ribbon edge and pin-spot eye veiling. She wore a shoulder spray of autumn tonings. ' Mrs. Whitfield wore . a black morocaine suit with matching accessories, and an autumn-tinted shoulder spray. During the reception items were given by Miss Ella Cawley and Miss Patricia Kennedy. For travelling the bride chose a tailored costume of an , outstanding grey and lemon check with accessoi - ies to tone. Mr. and Mrs. Malone s future home will be at Dobson. Runanga Women’s Co-op. Guild Mrs. W. Griffiths presided at the general meeting of the Runanga cooperative Women’s Guild held in the Druids’ Hall recently. After the ordinary business was disposed oi the remainder of the evening was spent in card games and dominoes. Mrs. Wright won the former and Mrs. Todd the latter. Mrs. M. Hambley, delegate to the Dominion conference of guild members, reported on the decisions of the conference al a special meeting.
