GREYMOUTH-FIRST DAY PRECIPITATE AND GLAMIS PAL WIN The first day of the Greymouth Jockey Club’s meeting is being held this afternoon at Omoto racecourse. The weather is sunny and the attendance large. The track is in firstclass order. Results: — NOVICE STAKES, of £125, 5?» furlongs: First Division. 2- PRECIPITATE, 8.10 (H. Hibberd) 1 3- CORNISH NOTE, 9.6 (D. Thistoll) 2 4- SMOCK, 8.10 (J. A. McFarlane) 3 Also started: 8-8 Irish Pride, 7-7 Sir, Sabre, 5-4 Triplicity coupled Gimms Pal, 10/11 Renege. Two lengths; three lengths. Sir Sabre was fourth. Time: Imin. 9sec. Cornish Note broke the line first in the first division but quickly drifted back and Precipitate took over the running. Precipitate led into the straight with Cornish Note making up ground and Smock, the most prominent of the others, but they made no impression on Precipitate who won with ease by two lengths from Cornish Note. Smock held her place to be three lengths away third well ahead of Sir Sabre and Triplicity. Second Division. 5-4 GLAMIS PAL, 8.5 (H. Conza). coupled Triplicity 1 1-3 CLOUD SONG. 9.1 (C. T. Glamis Pal, though a little slow away, made no race of the second division. The Man’s Pal mare raced to the front in the first furlong and entering the straight Cloud Song, Hot Foot, and Long Ago were her nearest attendants, with Cloud Song doing the best of the qhallengers. Glamis Pal was not troubled in the run to the post and was two lengths clear of Cloud Song at the judge, with Long Ago a fair third just ahead of Hot Foot. Revelling in the heavy going, Ginger Joe had a convincing win in the opening event, to return a dividend on the win machine of over a score. Tolerate was the early leader from Ginger Joe but the latter took over with seven furlongs to cover and was never afterwards headed. With half a mile to cover Ginger Joe led Jimmy Wharton, Billy McElwyn, Betty Maxegin, Voco Power. Fairy Wings (who was slow away) and Julie (who broke when in a good position after half a mile). Ginger Joe and Jimmy Wharton fought out the finish, with a gap of seven lengths to Betty Maxegin, who was followed by Billy McElwyn, Voco Power, Fairy Wings and Julie.

BELFAST HANDICAP, of £575; 3.47 class; one mile and five furlongs:— 6-9 LUCKY MEG (T. A. Greening) • ■ I 5-5 SUNNY NELSON .. • • 2 4-4 SANDY POTTS .... • • 3 Sci*.: Blazeaway, Indigo, Right Royal. Lucky Meg quickly opened up a big gap and made a procession of the Belfast Handicap, in which the wellfancied Golden Game refused to pace kindly and was eventually pulled up. Silverlight was the leader’s closest attendant most cf the way, with the remainder of the field well strung iout With two furlongs to cover Sandy Potts had displaced Silverlight with Sunny Nelson also making up ground. Lucky Meg won easily and Sunny Nelson finished better than Sandy Potts Silverhght was well back fourth, followed by Syp land and Sandiford. TRIAL HANDICAP, of £375, 4.49 class; two miles. PETER’S PAL L ON APPROVAL * SW ALEDALE • ■ d Scr: Ben Ledi, Gantree, Hal Derby, Lyceum, Ace of Diamonds, Checkmate, Maudeen. Another end-to-end victory was recorded in the Trial Handicap, Peter’s Pal early opening up a gap on the field and maintaining it for an easy win. Mavis Grattan and Razzle were his closest attendants early but both broke on the final circuit and drifted back. On Approval challenged in the straight but could not catch the leader. Swaledale was well back in third place, followed by Mavis Grattan, Razzle and Selwin Bar.
