' AMERICAN AMBASSADOR NOT RETURNING WASHINGTON, Feb. 14. The American Ambassador in Warsaw Mr Arthur Bliss Lane, who has been, recalled to Washington for consultations about future United States policy towards Poland, will not return to Poland did not necescorrespondent in Warsaw. Diplomatic quarters declared that the statement that Mr Lane would not return to Paland did not necessarily mean that diplomatic relations were being broken with Po.and. It was pointed out that although the American Government may not approve of the conduct ot the iecent Polish elections. It would be unwise to close the only “window ’he United States possesses to observe the actions of the Polish Government. Mr Lane will leave Warsaw on February 24. Whether he will return or not will depend on his personal wishes. It is emphasised that tne diplomatic assignment in Warsaw is “the most rugged in the foreign service.”
