SWIMMING More Records at Junior Championships
<P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Feb. 13. Two New Zealand records were broken when further heats were decided in the New Zealand junior and intermediate swimming championships this morning. Another thrilling finish between Miss Jean Cockroft (Southland) and Miss M. Wilson (Otago) saw the latter break her own officially-recog-nised record for the 75 yards junior girls’ backstroke event. Miss Wilsons record is Imin 1 4-ssec, and she swam the distance to-day m o 9 2-ssec. Miss Cockroft, however, returned a time of 58sec. on January 29, and tins record is awaiting recognition Points for the War Memorial Shield are as follows: Auckland 40 Otago 34 Southland 33, South Auckland 16, Nelson 16.
