Strike in Gaol.

About 100 prisoners in the Pentridge gaol have been on strike since Monday. They were charged to-day with misconduct and with refusal to work. There are 750 prisoners in Pentridge gaol, but the trouble is restricted to about 100, whose only complaint has been about food. Three ringleaders of the strike were sentenced to two months’ imprisonment for refusal to work. In addition, one of them was also sen--tenced to 14 days’ solitary confinement. About 100 other men were each sentenced to one month’s imprisonment. The men will serve the sentences on top of those which they already 1 are serving.—Melbourne, Feb. 12,
