THE WEATHER Forecast: Fair to Fine at First
The following weather forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon to-day:— Situation: An anti-cyclone centred north-west of Auckland extends on to New Zealand.
Forecast to 5 p.m. to-morrow. Moderate variable winds with northerlies prevailing to-mor-row; weather fine at first, but cloud increasing to-morrow and rain developing in the far south; temperatures cool to moderate. Further outlook: Unsettled, with rain at times. LOCAL RECORDINGS. 9 a.m.—Barometer, 29.65 inches (1004 millibars); thermometer, 52; wind, north-east (fresh breeze); sky, blue and cloudy; bar, considerable swell; rainfall, 0.25 inches. (The total rainfall to date this year is 1.79 inches.) The depth on the bai at high water yesterday was 28ft 10m.
