GREYMOUTH MEETING , The Greymouth Jockey Club’s M meeting opened at the Omoto racecourse to-day in fine, sunny weather. The track is soft after the heavy rain which caused the postponement yesterday, but is drying out. There is a good attendance. Results. —. NOVICE STAKES, of £ 125; five and a-half furlongs. First Division. 9-8 F. J. Black’s MAKE GOOD, by Martin Brough—Makeshift, syrs., 8.10 (G. Hampton) 1 2- Liquidate, 9.6 (H. Hibberd) 2 3- Rakata, 8.10 (K. Hickey) 3 Also started: 11-10 Leighnote, 15-15 Rockway, 14-14 Sir Sabre, 8-7 Triplicity, 6-6 Miss Mercury, 7-9 Opahi. One and a-half lengths; a neck. Miss Mercury fourth. Time: 1.11 1-5.

Liquidate was first to hit the front, with Rakata and Make Good also well up, and a gap to Miss Mercury and Leighnote. When the field had settled down Make Good and Miss Mercury took over the running from Liquidate, with Ohapi, who got the worst of the start, moving through the field. Liquidate attempted a run on the inside in the straight but could make no impression. on the winner. Rakata was close up, ahead ? of Miss Mercury, with a gap to Ohapi. / Second Division. 1-2 W. Paper Robe got the worst of a straggling start. Scene was the first to show out from Palaboa and Marchons, with Young John at the rear of the first bunch. Scene led. to the straight entrance where Young John tackled her and came on for a comfortable win. Scene hung on for second from Paeanism who was just ahead of Palaboa with a gap to Glamis Pal and Paper Robe. BOROUGH .HANDICAP TROT, of 2.23 class; one mile:— First Division.

More than half the field began poorly, leaving only five to actually contest the race. Mahari Dhu led from end-to-end and was followed early by Dawn Patrol, Peter Potts, Great Artist and Lady Indiana. Dawn Patrol broke under pressure at the 'straight entrance and Mahari Dhu easily staved off a challenge from Peter Potts. Great Artist was six lengths back, followed by Lady Indiana. A neck; eight lengths. Rey Stone fourth. Times: 2.24 1-5, 2.24 3-5, 2.27. There was another poor start in the second division and the field quickly strung out. Roman Wings was the early leader, with Ann Volo and Stately Lady in close attendance. Stately Lady broke along the back and Raranga and Rey Stone ranged up alongside the leader.
