SUSPECTED CASES OF PLURAL VOTING ST. ALBANS COUNT DELAYED The, last stages in the scrutiny of the roll in the St. Albans electorate was reached last evening; but the scrutiny was held up until personal investigation was made into suspected cases of dual voting. “The completion of the scrutiny depends on how long those investigations take,” said the returning officer (Mr. W. V. Morton). He expected that a day would be needed to make the official count before the poll was declared. On the night of the poll, Mr. C. M. Williams (Labour) was leading Mr. J. T. Watts (National) by 66 votes, , and . 1000 votes were still to be counted. A beginning was made last evening with checking absentee voters with the master rolls. Although 'inquiries into suspected cases of plural voting are handed to the police by returning officers, no complaint for action had been received by the Christchurch police late yesterday afternoon from any returning officer.
