COMMERCIAL KEEN COMPETITION AT CLEARING SALE
The v, e was a representative attendance of farmers at the clearing sale on account of Mr. H. M. Coulson at Koiterangi on Saturday. The National Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd., reports that competition for both live and dead stock was keen and very satisfactory prices were realised. The following is a list of the principal sales: —One two-year pedigi Jersey bull at 5 guineas; one twoyear grade Jersey bull at £lO, 50 dairy cows from £5/10/- to £l.i each; eight two-year heifers at £b each; 11 yearling heifers from £4 15/- to £5/15/-; seven calves at .30/each; three dry cows from £8 to £8 10/-; 10 two-year forward steers at £ll/5/-; 70 ewe hoggets at 35/-; 303 Romney ewes (with .310 lambs at foot) from 17/6 to 18/- per head, all counted; 58 aged ewes at 13/6; three Southdown rams from 5} guineas to 61 guineas; three Romney rams at 5 guineas; one hack (aged) at £4; one draught horse at £l5; four-cow milking plant at £6O; separator, £l5; 3 h.p. Anderson engine at £32 10/-; woolpress, £9; Farmall tractor (steel wheels) at £175; set tandem discs, £47/10/-; Oliver D.F. plough, £4O: tractor mower, £35; Cambridge roller, £l5; tip dray, £l7; tripod harrows, £7/10/-; 10 store pigs, from £3/2/G to £3/10/- each. STERLING EXCHANGE HELD OVERSEAS WELLINGTON, December 2. Sterling exchange, in New Zealand currency, held, overseas in the week ended November 25 amounted to £88,356,091, compared with £87,349,553 in the previous week, according to the Reserve Bank return. MININGNEWS Associated Gold Dredges.—For the week ended November 30, the return of Associated Gold Dredges (N.Z.) Ltd., was 2191 ounces .from 75,101 yards in 3501 dredging hours. Slab Hut.—Because of power failure and repair work, there was no wash-up from the dredge of the Slab Hut Creek Gold Dredging Company, LtLdLL., for the week ended November 29. cgmpanFnews Felt and Textiles. —An increase ol £4,052 to £218,506 is shown in the consolidated net profit of Felt and Textiles of Australia, Ltd., and its subsidiaries for the year ended June 30. Profit is struck after providing £38.865 less for taxation at £312,857, and £46.262 more for depreciation at £159.764. The parent company’s profit of £216,316 is a rise of £52,979. Ordinary dividend, again 10 per cent., requires £125,031, and 6 per cent, preference dividend amounts to £14.400. Other allocations'are: — Reserve, £30,000; special reserve, £5000; writing off debenture issue expenses, £17,864. After allowing £14,000 under-provided for taxation last year, the carry-forward is £lO,201 higher at £82,320. As the company now holds less than a 50 per cent, interest. Felt and Textiles of South Africa, Ltd., is no longer a subsidiary. PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE Estates to the value of £7.39,904 were; reported and accepted for administration by the Public Trustee during October. During the month 564 new wills -were prepared on behalf of testators and lodged for safe custody, and 494 existing wills were revised, to provide for changes desired by testators. The total number of wills now held in the Public Trust Office on behalf of living persons is 134,636.
