PIPE BAND MEETING

- 1-— OFFICERS ELECTED FOR YEAR The annual meeting of the Greymouth Highland Pipe Band was held on Wednesday evening in Perotti Hall. There was a full attendance of members. Pipe-Major W. Boyle occupied the chair in the absence of Drum-Major O. McLean. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted: — Patron, Mr. J. B. Kent; pipe-major and instructor, Mr. W. Boyle, sen.; pipe-sergeant, Mr. D. Boyle; pipecorporal, Mr. I. Mallett; pipe-lance-corporal, Mi:. W. Wilson; drummajor, Mr. O. McLean; drum-ser-geant, Mr. K. T. Batty; drum-lance-corporal, Logan Charteris; secretary, Mr. B. Charteris; treasurer, Mr. W. Boyle, jun.; trustees, Messrs. K. Batty and I. Mallett; custodians, Messrs. J. Knapp and K. Batty; general committee, Messrs. O. McLean, W. Boyle, sen., B. Charteris, J. Knapp, I. Mallett, W. Wilson, and K. Batty. It was decided to parade in the business area of the town on Friday evenings, when weather conditions permit. . , It was resolved that the band attend the “Hallowe’en” function at Hokitika this evening and the marching display at Victoria Park to-mor-row. It was decided that after New Year’s Day no official parades would be held until the first week in February. , It was resolved that, when equipment becomes more plentiful, efforts would be made to increase the strength of the band. A motion of sympathy with Mrs. O McLean, who was acicdentally injured recently, was carried.
