Port Facilities
[TO THE EDITOR.] Sir,—lt is now four months since trouble developed, with its origin in Greymouth, over, lighting and heating facilities in ships. The owneis of the ships visiting Greymouth have spent thousands of pounds fitting their ships with transformers, etc. But what has the local Harbour Board done? Practically every port in New Zealand, except Greymouth, can provide some power facilities, even if only of a makeshift natuie. In fact, Dunedin, with a union secretary chairman of the Harbour Boaid, has been providing power for ships on a day and night service for yea ls - In view of the fact that the agi cement with the engineers in connection with the running of ships generating plants expires at the end this month, I think that the soone the Greymouth Harbour shakes itself out of its B1 P ' [ Winkle dream the better.—Youis, etc J.
