Ministerial. The resignation of the Minister of National Service (Mr. McLagan) from the Legislative Council is expected shortly so that he may qualify for nomination as the Government candidate lor Riccarton. He will continue to hold a position as a member of the Executive Council.—(P.A.)

The funeral of Mrs. Mary Kendrick, of Runanga, took place this afternoon at Karoro cemetery. The services at the residence and at the graveside were conducted by Rev. E. O. Harding. Mr L W. Reid, inspector of health at Greymouth, will leave for Blenheim on transfer at the end of the month. He’will be replaced at Gleymouth by Mr. G. M. Daniel, of Christchurch. Motions of condolenece with the president of the club Mr J. B. Kent . and a member, Mr J. Cam, in then recent bereavements, were carried m science at the annual meeting of the Greymouth Surf and Life Saving Club on Wednesday evening. The management committee of the New Zealand Brass Bands’ Association has appointed Mr. Frank C. Johnston, of Melbourne, judge of the New Zealand championship contest, to be held in Wanganui from Febroary 23 to March 1, 1947.
