Inquiries indicate that the Royal Commission on the Dominion’s gaming laws is to have a preliminary meeting in Auckland early in November to consider the order of reference and to decide when public sittings of the commission will be held. . The commission comprises Mr. Justice Finlay (chairman), Mr. W. H. Freeman, S.M., and Mr. J. V. Heenan, Under-Secretary of the Department of Internal Affairs. Mr. C. S. Thomas has been appointed to represent the New Zealand Trotting Conference as counsel at the sittings of the Royal Commission. .. . ...
