Sulzberger, a correspondent of'til© “New York Times,” -W.hpm pe' w: “We cannot remain indifferent to what is happening there.” Marshal Broz-Tito said that the Royalist authorities and illegal bands were seeking to terrorise the Population, but he emphasised thgi Jugoslavia contemplated no action QBW than to bring the matter before the United Nations. ... ‘ ~ “The United Nations Will gatfler in conference to discuss the protection of small nation's as yyell as. orities.;” he said. “At such a tape, it cannot be permitted that the Macedonian people should be exposed to a most brutal, inhuman persecution of an entire people or expulsion from their homes.” , , T Marshal Broz-Tito reiterated Jugoslavia’s intention to refuse to sign the Italian Peace treaty as it is now framed. He said he was certain that the treaty, would again be reviewed by the Big Four, with the Jugoslav viewpoint again brought up. “We are sincerely convinced that such a treaty would mean a great injustice to Jugoslavia,” he said. He added that Jugoslavia was _ firmly determined to request certain corrections of the Jugoslav-Austrian border affecting areas inhabited by a purely Slavic population. These areas should be given to Jugoslavia. Referring to internal conditions, Broz-Tito declared that his Government did not plan collectivisation of farms as in Russia, but wished .to keep agriculture on a co-operative basis. Jugoslavia’s reconstruction programme was not 50 per cent, completed. _ , . Broz-Tito who declared himself to be a Communist, said that the political opposition in Jugoslavia did not represent any considerable element. The opposition could only weaken because its methods were discredited by the mass of the people.
