HINDUS IN CANADA

REQUEST FOR FRANCHISE MADE

(Rec. 10.30 a.m.) VANCOUVER, October 15. Doctor D. P. Pandia. the official representative of India’s Congress Party, when interviewed said he intended to ask the British Columbian Government to enfranchise in the Province 1400 Hindus. “If the request is granted we shall more easily get the same rights from Australia and South Africa. It is in the power of a few men in British Columbia to exclude India from the British Commonwealth and close Canadian doors to potentially fabulous trade. We are not complaining aooi’t the exclusion of Hindus from immigration because India will give reciprocal treatment—the complete . exclusion of Canadians or a balanced quota of immigration.”
