RUNANGA SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS TO BE HELD
The West Coast swimming championships are to be held at the Runanga baths this season. This was reported to a meeting of, the Runaiiga swimming baths cdriihnttee last evening.' It is expected -that the. championships will- take place early in February. Mr. R. Armstrong presided at the meeting and the following W,erb;...Appointed to the committee: President, Mr. R. Armstrong; secretary, Mr. I. Cairney (both represeriting the schbbl committee); Mr. R. Hambley C. Barrow (representing.the.Borough Council); Mr. T. Finn and Mr. J..Ppg; gan (representing the Convent school); Messrs D., Manderson; W. Freeman, T.. Coles, R. Unwin, R. Thompson and F. Oakley. It was decided to hold a working bee at the baths at the week-end, when the seats and the roof of the change rooms will be painted. Mr. W. Robertson was re-appoint-ed caretaker. .. . .. It was decided that a deputation from the committee meet Mr. O’Brien, Minister of Mines, on his next .visit, in an effort to secure a grant towards the cost of bringing the bath’s up to standard.
