SUNK IN GALE
NORWEGIAN MOTOR TANKER LOST (Rec. 2.10 p.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 15. The Norwegian motor tanker Marie IL, of 7417 tons, bound for New York from Curacao, sank in a gale 148 miles from the North Carolina coast yesterday. Another ship picked up 18 survivors from the raft, but 22 persons on a second raft are missing. The survivors believe that 19 of those on the second raft were drowned, and that only three are still, afloat. Ships and planes are searching.
