Mr. D. J. Rooney, of the staff of the telephone exchange, Greymouth, has been transferred to the Wellington exchange and will leave shortly. Mr. R. Cox, of Greymouth, who has retired from the Railways Department after 39 years’ service, was guest of honour at a social evening at Harker’s Lounge on Saturdayl. There was a.'n attendance of about 80 railwaymen on whose behalf Mr. Cox was presented with a silver tea service. Mr. W. Robertson, who recently retired from business, was met by members of the West Coast Master Bakers’ Association during the ‘week-end. Reference was made to Mr. Robertson’s valued membership of the association, and a presentation of a fountain pen was made by the chairman. Mr. A. A. Shannon.
