Mrs. L. Bain left yesterday for Wellington.

Mr. J. R. Williams, formerly Building Controller at Greymouth, left yesterday on transfer to Auckland.

Sergeant O. Hansen, of the Greymouth police force, is at present relieving Sergeant T. Matthews, of Westport, who is on annual leave. Mr. W. Blair Tennent, of Palmerston North, who has been attending a world Rotary conference at Atlantic City, will return to the Dominion to-morrow. He is a son of Mrs. D. Tennent, 'of Cowper street, Greymouth.

A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. Charles McQueen, who was employed by the Greymouth Borough Council for nearly 40 years, was passed at a meeting of the council last evening, on the motion of the Mayor (Mr. F. A. Kitchingham).
