Mr. A. W. Boniface left for Wellington by air to-day. Mr. M. S. White left to-day for Wellington. The Rev. Father J. McCarthy, of Greymouth, who has been absent since last March on account of illhealth, returned on Saturday. Mr and Mrs. Shotton, and Mrs. J. Hewison and Mrs. J. Wafer will leave this evening for Dunedin, to attend the funeral of Mrs. Sid. Hewison, who formerly lived at Dunollie. . More than 30 years a ministerial secretary, Mr. G. F. Dixon, at present private secretary to the AttorneyGeneral and Minister of Justice, on Saturday completed 50 years in the Public Service. Mr. Dixon has been private secretary to nine Ministers of the Crown. He started and will complete his career in association with the Department of Justice, as his first appointment in August, 1896, was as a cadet in the head office of that department.—(P.A.) . The new principal of the School for the Deaf at Titirangi, Dr. Ernest Lund, - accompanied by his wife, has arrived at Auckland by flying-Jboat from Sydney to commence his duties. Since the school was opened lour years ago, the principal of the School for the Deaf in Sumner, Mr. H. Pickering, has acted also as principal at Titirangi, but it was decided that a permanent principal for the Titirangi School should be appointed. Mr. Pickering will remain in charge of education of the deaf in New Zealand, with headquarters in Sumner. —(P.A.)
