STRIKE IN PERSIA
OIL TROUBLE SETTLED LONDON, July 16. The strike of 100,000 AngloIranian Oil Company employees, which started in the’Khubistan Province of southern Persia, on Sunday, has ended. A statement issued by the British Embassy in Teheran says that on the first day of the strike a clash occurred between members of the Com-munist-inspired Tudeh Party and ( local Arabs. Casualties were 17 killed and 150 injured. No demands were made by the workers before the strike, so it appears that the strike had purely political motives.
