OBITUARY Sister Mary Berchmans

The death occurred yesterday at the Convent of Mercy, Hokitika, of Sister Mary Berchmans (O’Brien), aged 82. Sister Mary Berchmans was born at Ennis, County Clare, Eire, and came to New Zealand at the age of three. She spent the early part of her life in Greymouth.' Before her entrance into the Order in 1884, she spent some years teaching in various Catholic schools on the West Coast, prior to the advent of the Sisters of Mercy to the district. In her long and successful career as a teacher, Sister Mary Berchmans worked in Ross, Kaniei'i, Kumara, Greymouth, and Hokitika. Mrs. Olive White The death occurred at Mt. Roskill, Auckland, yesterday, of Mrs. Olive White, aged 52. Mrs. White was born at Waimate. She is survived by her husband, one son, Samuel, two sisters, including Mrs. D. Gibbons (Paroa), and four brothers, including Mr. H. Robinson (Gladstone).
