APPOINTMENT OF ROYAL COMMISSION A JIETIB,EDJMAGISTRATE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 18. Mr. J. R- Bartholomew, C.M.G., of Dunedin, a well-known Stipendiary Magistrate who recently retired from the Bench, has been appointed a Royal Commission to inquire into and report upon certain matters arising out of the acquisition and disposal of motor vehicles by the War Assets Realisation Board. , This announcement was made by the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) to-night, who added that the findings of the commission were to be completed by August 31. The order of reference provides for the commission to inquire into the proceedings of the War Assets Realisation Board in relation to the acquisition and disposal of motor vehicles made available to the board by declaration of the United States Joint Purchasing Board, dated October 24, 1945, and into the question whether members and officers of the War Assets Realisation Board acted carefully, diligently, and in business-like and efficient manner, and with faithfulness to the interests of the State. The commission is to inquire and report upon such ■ other matters arising out of the premises'as may come to its notice, and which the commission considers should be investigated. ■
