THE WEATHER Forecast : Fair.
The following weather forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon to-day: Situation: An extensive and complex depression covers the north Tasman. A ridge of high pressure is east of New Zealand. Forecast to 5 p.m., to-morrow: Easterly winds, strong in exposed positions, otherwise moderate; scattered drizzle developing in north Westland; elsewhere fair; temperatures cool. Further outlook: Fair to cloudy. LOCAL RECORDINGS. 9 a.m.—Barometer, 1021; thermometer, 42; wind, easterly (strong breeze); sky, blue and cloudy; bar, moderate swell; river, normal; rainfall, nil. (The total rainfall to date this year is now 38.81 inches.) The depth on the bar at high water yesterday was 20ft lOin.
