SERVICE AWARDS

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 21. The Governor-General (Lieutenant General Sir Bernard Freyberg) has announced that the King has approved the following awards to personnel of the Royal New Zealand Air Force in recognition of services in the South Pacific area:— Bar io Distinguished Flying Cross Flight Lieutenant Winston Brooke Mackley, D.F.C., Auckland. Distinguished Flying Cross Flight Lieutenant James Alexander Hendry, Auckland. Flight Lieutenant Robert Laird Scott, Auckland. Flight Lieutenant David Francis Thomas Sheehan, Auckland. Pilot Officer Alexander Ninian Oliver, Hastings. His Excellency also named 23 members of the Royal New Zealand Air Force who have been mentioned in dispatches.
