ARABS REJECT PLAN
ANGLO-AMERICAN PROPOSALS FOR PALESTINE
NATIONAL STATE DEMAND JERUSALEM, May 24.
“The Arab Higher Committee rejects the British-American proposals for Palestine and demands the. establishment in Palestine of an Arab National State.”
The Higher Committee decided to give this answer to the Anglo-Ameri-ian proposals for Palestine, at a meeting held to-day in response to the British and American Governments’ requests for views on the re.port of the Palestine Commission. The committee demanded: (1) The abrogation of the mandate and. the immediate cessation of Jewish immigration and land sales to Jews; (2) the formation of an Arab State to be a member of the Arab League; (3) the withdrawal of all foreign troops from Palestine.
“Arabs insist that they alone have the right to determine their own future,” said the committee. The declaration adds that Arabs in Palestine refuse to accept the AngloAmerican recommendations in their entirety and will defend their country with every means at their disposal. The Arabs consider that Britain and the United States have no right to determine the rights of Arabs in their own homeland.
