ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
COMPETITIONS-TO BE RESUMED
At a recent meeting held at Greymouth it was decided by the local branch of the St. John. Ambulance that competitions between West Coast divisions would be resumed this year. Owing to the war the competitions had lapsed since the 1940-41 season. Mr S. A. Burgess (District Officer) presided over a large attendance. .Among the visitors present were Messrs M. Head (superintendent, Westport) and J. McNeish (superintendent, Brunner). It was decided to hold the competition at Westport, and that competition papers would be made out by the District Superintendent ai officers The date of the competitions was arranged for May 31, and a special meeting is to be held on May 2 to make the necessary arrangements. Those attending the meeting wilt be the district officer and superintendent, the divisional superintendent and ambulance officers. It was decided that Waiuta, Blackball and other outlying divisions be • invited to compete. The Brunner division advised that it would not compete, but was askefl to reconsider that decision.
Three trophies are to be procured for the competition, between the north and south divisions, payment for the trophies to be made by a levy on all members. Mr Head signified his intention of donating a trophy and Mr J. Devonpart said that his trophy could be competed for anywhere on the West Coast during the annual competitions between north and south divisions. It was stated that the same conditions applied to all cups.
