ARRIVALS. Wednesday, April 17. Piata, m.v. a.m.), 375 tons, O’Donnell, from Nelson. Nancarrow and Co., Ltd., agents. Totara, s.s. (8.26 a.m.), 425 tons, McLeod, from Wellington. Union Steam Ship Co., agents.

COASTWISE MOVEMENTS.

The Rata arrived from Nelson this morning and is loading coal for Castlecliff. She is scheduled to sail at 9.30 p.m. The Totara arrived this morning from Wellington. She is loading coal for New Plymouth and is expected to sail this evening.

The Kiwitea is expected to-mor-row morning to load coal for Auckland.

The Karu is scheduled to sail from Wellington, to-day to load coal at Greymouth for return. The Gabriella is scheduled to leave Wellington for Greymouth to-mor-row. She will load coal and timber for return.

The following weather forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon to-day: — Situation: An anti-cyclone in the South Tasman Sea extends over New Zealand; a weak trough passing in the south.

Forecast to 5 p.m. to-morrow: Light to moderate variable winds, easterlies predominating; weather fair; temperatures rather 6001. Further outlook: Fair. LOCAL RECORDINGS. 9 a.m. —Barometer, 1019; thermometer, 49; wind, easterly (moderate breeze); sky, overcast; river, normal; bar, moderate swell; rainfall, nil. (The total rainfall to date this year is now 27.66 inches.) The depth on the bar at high water yesterday was 21ft Gin.
