Mr. A. M. Davidson, headmaster of the Macandrew Road Intermediate School, Dunedin, is visiting Greymouth. The West Coast Rugby Union last evening passed a motion of condolence with Dr. W. McKay, of Greymouth, in the death of his brother, Mr. George McKay, who was a former West Coast representative. The appointment of senior lecturer in geology at Auckland University College has been accepted by Dr. C. R. Laws, D.S.C., a member of the staff of the Auckland Teachers’ Training College since 1932. He was formerly on the staff of the Dunedin Training College.—(P.A.) Mr. N. D. Binnie, New Zealand manager of the Port Line, Ltd., has been appointed to the local board of the company, which now consists of Messrs. Warwick Gregory and D. F. Middleton, both of Sydney, and Mr. N. D. Binnie, Wellington. Mr. Binnie will continue to act as New Zealand manager, Mr. W. G. de Gruchy, a member of the London board, who has been stationed in New Zealand and Australia from 1920 onwards, will sail by the Akaroa on May 1 to take up.residence in London.—(P.A.) He is Mr Digby Roberts, formerly of Wanganui, who will work under the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in New Zealand (Sir Patrick Duff). He is expected to be flying to New Zealand by the end of. this month. Mr Roberts joined the Royal Air Force before the war, but an injury kept him grounded for some time and he served in the Air Ministry before going to India where he held an executive transport post. Mr Roberts recently joined the information staff at the Dominions’ Office, and his term in New Zealand is for three years.—London, April 16.
