FLOURMILLERS’ CLAIM
INCREASE IN PRICE REFUSED SUBSIDY TO COVER COSTS ? (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 4. An application made by New Zealand flourmillers for an increased price to covet* increased costs was mentioned by the- Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr. Sullivan) when he addressed the millers in Christchurch yesterday. After the meeting, Mr. Sullivsn told 3 repoiter that he had informed the millers that their application was being examined by the Price Tribunal, the Stabilisation Commission, and himself. He hoped that he would be able to announce a decision soon. The reporter asked Mr. Sullivan if it would be correct to assume that any increase granted to the millers would be met by Government subsidy and not by increased retail prices of flour products. “That interpretation is very possibly correct,’’ the Minister replied with a smile.
