JAPANESE SUBMARINE
FASTER THAN AMERICAN COUNTERPART
(Rec. 11.45 a.m.) TOKIO, April 3. An American expert disclosed that Japan, at the end of the war, had developed a powerful stream-lined submarine, capable of doing 20 knots submerged, compared with 12 knots attained by American submarines. The Japanese model had a conningtower showed like a tear drop. The guns receded into the deck, and even the antenna fittings could be pulled back. -
