fO.C.) REEFTON, April 3. In the claim of R. J. Littel against M. A. Cunniffe for £lOO in connection with the sale of an hotel, Mr. A. A. McLachlan, S.M., gave judgment for the plaintiff for £5, with costs £l/19/-, at a sitting of the Magistrate’s Court. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following cases:— T. A. Dellaca, Ltd. v. M. Wafer, £4 9/6, costs £l/3/6; L. E. Morgan v. Donald McMaster, £23/11/8, costs £4/3/6.

For failing to give way to an approaching Vehicle when driving a motor vehicle, Alan N. Bolitho was fined £l, costs 10/-. For allowing two cows to wander on Buller road, H. Miller was fined £l, costs 10/-. WARDEN’S COURT. The following applications were heard at Reefton, at a sitting of the Warden’s Court, with Mr. A. A. McLachlan, S.M., on the Bench:— C. M. Mathison, coal lease, three acres, Reel'ton S.D., extension of lime for hearing.—Granted. S. R. Blair and B. L. Waghorn, coal prospecting licence and extension of time for hearing.—Both granted. T. H. Lee, surrender of ordinary prospecting license. —Accepted. G. H. Adams, surrender of residence site licence. —Accepted. W. J. Morris v. C. M. Mathison and T H. Lee, for an injunction restraining the defendants from disposing of coal from the plaintiff’s lands, and for the taking of accounts. —An' interim injunction was granted pending a decision by the Coal Council or the Minister of Mines. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. Mrs. J. Panchurst presided at the annual meeting of the Reefton Women’s Institute. The following officers were elected: —President, Mrs. Wells; vice-presidents, Mesdames W. J. Duff and H. Millei, secretary, Mrs. R. Yellowlees; treasurer, Mrs. R. Hobbs; committee, Mesdames Mitchell, Sharpe. Eklund and Harvey. Monthly competition results were as follows: —Bloom, Mrs. Mitchell 1 Mrs. Harvey 2; runner beans, Mrs. Mitchell 1, Mrs. Harvey and Mrs. Eklund (equal) 2; print apron, Mrs. Eklund. Mesdames Wells and Bolitho were appointed delegates lor a combined meeting at Gleymouth on April 10. The hostesses were Mesdames Wells and Nicholls.
