ENTERTAINMENTS

OPERA HOUSE —To-night: “Buckskin Frontier” and “Steel Against the Sky.” As powerful as the men who built a nation can best describe “Buckskin Frontier” starring Richard Dix, Jane Wyatt and Albert Dekker to be screened at the opera House tonight and Thursday. Th'e film deals with the building of the Great South West Railway, in which men challenged destiny and women changed it, and in which is to be seen the last great battle of the west. STEEL AGAINST THE SKY Exciting action, competent acting, and a nicely turned romantic triangle between Lloyd Nolan, Alexis Smith and Craig Stevens are provided in the bridge-building romantic melodrama “Steel Against the Sky” to be screened at the Opera House to-night and Thursday.

REGENT THEATRE— To-night: “The Yellow Canary”; starring Anna Neagle and Richard Greene.

“The Yellow Canary,” starring Anna Neagle and Richard Greene, is staring at the Regent Theatre to-night. The picture opens in England, with the first scene introducing the heroine ostensibly signalling the enemy raiders who are engaged in bombing Buckingham Palace. From there the plot takes her through various activities, the mechanics of home life, the casual date at a night club ... and in all instances her associates are shocked and outraged by her proNazi sympathies. Exiled to Canada by the British Government, she meets the Orlocks, mother and son, refugees from Poland, victims of Nazi brutality. She also meets an objectionable but handsome young man, whose sole purpose in life seems to be pursuit of her. With swiftly-paced action, the story unfolds the relationship between the three, each of whom is motivated by personal ethics, and whose ambitions are necessarily altered by the presence of the other two. The supporting cast includes Nova Pilbeam, Albert Leiven, and Cyril Fletcher (Dreaming of Thee).
