NEW FIVE-YEAR PLAN
RECONSTRUCTING RUSSIAN ENTERPRISES (Rec. 11.50 a.m.) LONDON, 19. The Moscow radio stated that the rehabilitation of enterprises destroyed during the war and the rebuilding of war-damaged towns were top priorities under the new five-year plan which the Supreme Soviet approved last night. Features of the plan are: Firstly, huge new industrial developments on the right bank of the Dnieper river; secondly, a new power station replacing the Dnepropetrovsk dam destroyed during the Russian retreat of 1941; and thirdly, accelerated extraction of coal from the Donetz basin. , , X 1 . The plan also provides lor the development of mining for iron and copper ores, and mineral fertilisers in central Asia, and the electrification of railways, especially in Siberia. The Moscow district will specialise in the production of motor-cars, machinery and electrical appliances. The production target for the Moscow area includes 100,000 lorries and 40,000 midget cars yearly by 1950.
