WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

GREYMOUTH MEETINGS

The Greymouth Women’s Institute held its monthly meeting and annual meeting in the Lyceum Hall. Mrs. Kilpatrick presided over a good attendance. .One new member was welcomed. The motto for the month was: No gift is more valued than the gift of appreciation. Long-service badges were approved by headquarters for presentation to Mrs. Pound and Mrs. Aiderton. Mrs. Rose was appointed delegate to an institute conference in Wellington. Letters were received from five members of the W.I. movement in England who have received parcels of food from the federation. Mrs. Smart was the winner of the “motto” prize. The annual report and balancesheet were adopted. Mrs. Kilpatrick (president), Mrs. Rose (secretary), and Mrs. Smith (treasurer) were all re-elected to office. The points prize for the year’s work was won by Miss E. Prendergast, with Mrs. Green second. Competition winners for the month were: Apron, Miss Prendergast 1, Mrs. Green 2; bloom, Mrs. Dodd and Miss Prendergast (equal) 2; bottled blackberries, Miss E. Prendergast 1. ‘ The hostesses were Mesdames Pound, Brown, and Robertson.
