THE WEATHER Forecast: Becoming fair.
The following weather forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon to-day: — Situation: A weak low pressure trough is advancing across the South Island, and anti-cyclones cover the Tasman Sea and the North Island. Forecast to 5 p.m. Thursday: Light do moderate' variable winds; weather, cloudy with further drizzle, but becoming fair from the south during to-mor-row; temperatures, moderate. Further outlook: Fair to cloudy. ' LOCAL RECORDINGS 9 a.m.: Barometer, 1021; thermometer, 59; wind, north-east (light breeze); sky, overcast and misty; river normal; bar, moderate swell; rainfall, ipt. (The total rainfall to date this year is now 21.22 inches). The depth on the bar at high water yesterday was 23ft. _____
