CYCLING FIRST ROAD RACE IN BRUNNER SERIES
The first of a series of three road races sponsored by the Brunner Sports Club as a prelude to its sports meeting to be held this month, took i place on Saturday, the course being over 12 miles from Taylorville to Kaiata loop and return. Seventeen members of the Greymouth Cycling Club started, and apart from a slight head wind, conditions were good. J. Gardner secured a narrow win, while H. Pratt took fastest time, one-fifth of a second better than J. Cooper. Detailed results are as follow:— J. Gardner (2|min) 1; D. Clark (Imin 50sec) 2; E. Maguigan (lmin 50sec) 3; T. Malone (lmin 50sec) 4; C. Carr (2£min) 5. Time, 31min. ssec. Fastest time: H. Pratt, 30min. 7sec.
