HOKITIKA BOROUGH COUNCIL
MONTHLY MEETING HOKITIKA, December 20. The Hokitika Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor (Mr A. R. Elcock) presiding and the following members being present:—Crs. A. C. Armstrong, C. Caliari, I. J. Preston, ,S. G. Havill, H. C. Peart, S. G. Roberts, D. Pettigrew. Receipts were reported as £1603 7/10 and expenditure as £1763/0/8. Accounts amounting to £1307/1/were passed for payment. Abattoirs report: Stock slaughtered 7 cows, 19 heifers, 70 bullocks, 175 sheep, 4 lambs, 2 pigs, 5 calves. Fees collected £6B/15/9. Fees for same month last year £6l/11/6.
The foreman’s report was approved. The sexton reported seven interments during November. From the Secretary of the Sports Committee of the Westland Racing Club, asking the Council to prohibit the parking of motor and other vehicles in the streets surrounding Cass Square on Boxing Day.—No» action taken.
Mr Reece Handisides application for permission to instal a septic tank on part sections 1514/7, Revell Street. —Granted on usual conditions. From Mr F. H. Johnston, 232 Revell Street, asking under what conditions the Council would undertake to pipe the watercourse through his property.—Referred to foreman. From Mrs A. Ross, senr., Gibson Quay, asking the Council to clear the outside of the footpath along the frontage of her property in Fitzherbert Street, as the kerb is higher than the footpath, and that water lodging on the footpath cannot escape, and also that the footpath between Weld Street and the . Quay needs attention. Some gravel is also required along the footpath at her frontage.—Referred to foreman.
