Petrol coupons six, seven and eight will be available for the months of December, January and February. This was announced by the Minister of Supply (Mr. Sullivan). The Minister said he had recently been asked by the North and South Island Motor Unions to increase the holiday period ration, and to extend the interchangeability of the coupons. Unfortunately, the stock and supply positions were such that the holiday allowances were on the most generous scale possible. The ration could not be increased without risking the depletion of the stocks in some centres. The supply position had not changed, and tne dollar problem was still the paramount fac- j tor in the situation. It was hoped, however, that the extended availability of the coupons six, seven and eight would facilitate holiday arrangements.—P.A.
