OFFICIALS’ SALARIES LONDON, October 24. , The United Nations report, which proposed the payment of an annual salary of about £5OOO to the secre-tary-general, from £3ooo'to £5OOO to the assistant-director, and from £9OO to £3OOO to secretaries and counsellors, also recommended that all salaries should be tax. free in all countries and such “as would enable men of eminence and high attainment to accept and maintain the positions.” . The report recommended that all appointments be initially for a term of five years. ___
