The National Delegates’ conference of dockers passed a i’esolution urging .the immediate resumption of work. The conference pledged full support to ensure there would be no victimisation. Another resolution was passed declaring the employers’ oner could not be regarded as satisfactory and authorising the negotiating committee to continue' the discussions with a view to finding an acceptable basis of settlement. The conference decided, in the event of the negotiations proving abortive, to report, to the Ministry of Labour with the request that the Government should initiate immediate action necessary to effect a lasting settlement. . ' Aoldier dockers are discharging, 24 ships and loading 10 at London to-aay. l .The port authority’s'permanent civilian labour is unloading three more. The “Evening News” says: Nearly 150 ocean-going merchantmen, many carrying food are due in Britain in the next seven days and there is not. a strike-free port to which they can diverted. BRITAIN’S CASUALTIES LONDON, October 22.. The First Lord of the Admiralty (Mr Alexander) disclosed that for the first time Britain’s total naval casualties during the war . exceeded 50,0UU officers and men killed or missing, and more than 730 ships lost. A railway report reveals that B.)< people were killed and 4379 seriously injured on Britain’s railways through enemy action during the war. BANK OF ENGLAND NOTES. LONDON, October 23, The new type of Bank of England five pound notes are. now circulating.
