SPRING FLOWERS

DISPLAY AT ST. JOHN’S A large number of excellent Spring •blooms were displayed at St. John’s Hall, to-day, on the occasion of St. John’s Horticultural Society’s Spring flower show. There was a good attendance this afternoon. .There was some close competition, said one of the judges, Mr. E. Yates, who stated that eight entries for -premier bloom proved most difficult £o separate, and the prize was awarded to a bi-colour trumpet “Effective” displayed by Mr. W. Buchanan. Mr. Yates also commented on the freshness of the blooms, which, he said, were the best exhibited for a long •time. W. Buchanan’wbn the St. John’s Daffodil Cup for the most points in that section and Miss Craig was runner up, Miss Prendegast won the Cut I Flower trophy, while Miss Craig won the trophWor most points in the dec--1 orative section. I Mr. Yates judged the.daffodils and •the cut flower sections, while Mrs. R. iff.' Bush judged the decorative sections. The following awards have been made:— Daffodils.—Six Trumpet Daffodils: W. HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY. The annual soring flower show arranged by the West Coast Horticultural Society will be held in the Town Hall, to-morrow and Friday. The quality of the blooms already exhibited Guarantees an excellent display of daffodils and other Spring flowers. All garden lovers will want to see the show and the Society has done its best to make it a success. Now it is up to the public to support its efforts by attending in large numbers thus assuring the Society of a successful show. ;
