————'———— [OUII OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HOKITIKA, September 18. A civic reception to members of the services who have returned home since April was held in the Soldiers’ Hall, and was attended by between 600 and 700. The function took the form of a dance followed by the official welcome interspersed with items, a supper and more dancing. The speakers were the Mayor, Mr. A. R. Elcock, R. Bradley (Chairman, Westland County Council), and D. M. Fraser (President Hokitika-Westland R.S.A.). Sergt. W. Eoyd replied on behalf of the servicemen. Items were given by Messrs A. E. Perry, T. O’Callaghan, B. Brown, J. Ryan and an orchestra. Miss M. Giese was the. accompanist. The Hokitika Municipal Band was in attendance.
