BASEBALL PLAYERS

INJURED BY MIRRORS’ USE. SYDNEY, August 13. Two players were injured in a baseball match at University Oval yesterday as a result of onlookers reflecting mirrors into their eyes. The match was in the Sunday League competition between Yanks and Illawarra. In Yanks’ second innings L. Richardson, dazzled by the reflection from the mirrors, was struck by a ball, and had to receive medical attention for an injured ankle. H. Hawkins, short-stop • for Illawarra, was hit on the face and was treated for abrasions to the right cheek. The umpire had to stop the game for 25 minutes. A policeman had to stop the mirrors being used. Instead of nine innings being played the game was cut down by two innings. Illawarra won by 10 runs to four.
